Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth 2 Timothy 2:15

Salvation

The "word of truth" (the Bible) reveals that every person has sinned, that every sinner is condemned to eternal separation from God in the lake of fire ["the second death"], and therefore that every person's greatest need is salvation. That's the bad news. The "word of truth," however, also reveals the good news (the Gospel) that "the God of all grace" has provided salvation for every person through the death, burial, and resurrection of His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. God offers this salvation to every person as a gift which can be received "by faith." The reception of God's salvation gift takes place when a person believes "the word of truth" regarding his/her sinful condition and need of salvation, God's provision for his/her salvation through the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, and then acts on this belief by repenting and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. God wants every person to be saved and has done all the work that is required for the salvation of every person. He expects every person to believe His "word of truth" and receive His gift of salvation. God will not force any person to do so, but every person who refuses His salvation will ultimately suffer "the second death."

It is not the will of God for any person to suffer "the second death." Likewise, the believers who make up this "body of Christ"--Word of Truth Baptist Church--want every person to be saved! That is the purpose for this most important page on our website. Here you will find what every person must know in order to be saved--"the word of truth." God's Word informs us in Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast," and then in Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

On this page you will find a listing of several Bible passages referred to in the first paragraph of this section explaining salvation. If you have any interest in what "the word of truth" says about salvation and your need of salvation, please read these Bible verses. We have also included a Gospel tract on this page that will further explain how you can be saved. If you would like to know more about salvation, or if you have been saved and want to know more about how to grow in your Christian life, please contact Pastor Jerry Akers.
